Dec 10, 2019 | Latest, Uncategorized

An article on Swansea’s copper history has been published in the November edition of Old Glory magazine, the UKs premier heritage and steam magazine. The article written by Mike and Tom contains sections on the history of the copper industry in the Lower Swansea Valley, information about the Musgrave engine and its barring engine and details on the recent restoration of the Musgrave Gantry Crane.

The article is 7 pages long and includes many photos, both historic images and recent pictures of the restoration process. For those people who would not normally buy the specialist magazine there is still plenty of information of interest.

Above left:Mike Prankerd in John Vivian guise, he is outside WH Smith in the Quadrant on the day of issue of the magazine discussing the article with Richard Horlock from Swansea Council. Above centre: Tom shows Swansea Council Leader Rob Stewart inside the renovated Engine House and explains the work undertaken on the restored Musgrave Gantry Crane.
